Pitch Pine Branches laden with snow, hang over the Red Road, untraveled and silent, in the windless still of a winter morning about to clear and burst into full sunlight.
Made of the local red gravel found in the New Jersey Pinelands, found beneath the sugar sand of the ancient seabed, it is called the Red Road by locals, and traverses some of the most ecologically sensitive areas in the Pinelands. Ocean and Burlington Counties.
