Black Jack Oaks In Spring
Spring on the Pygmy Pine Plain- a time of memories and impressions. Thousands of tiny black jack oaks tucked in among the equally diminutive pines bloom as their new leaves grow in the morning light. The blooms look like fringe against the gnarled gray trunks and branches. At dawn and dusk this fringe is illuminated.
Walking down the sugar sand trails as the breezes ruffle the layers of branches and blooms and pine needles, it is magical and fleeting.
